Yet another report that red wine and red grapes have important health benefits. This time it comes from the Department of Otolarynology-Head & Neck Surgery at Henry Ford Hospital. And once again it is resveratrol that is being lauded. Added to the long list of benefits from red wine and red grapes is possible prevention of hearing loss and cognitive decline.
“Our latest study focuses on resveratrol and its effect on bioinflammation, the body’s response to injury and something that is believed to be the cause of many health problems including Alzheimer’s disease, cancer, aging, and hearing loss,” said the study’s lead author Michael D. Seidman, director of the Division of Otologic/Neurotologic Surgery.” Source: Natural Society
I’ll leave it to you to read the scientific findings (click the link above) which includes words like “cyclooxygenase-2 (which by the way prevents inflammation). The article also has cautions you should know about.
“The Apostle Paul recommended to Timothy to drink wine for his stomach’s sake and for his often infirmities. The Bible often makes references to the value of wine for health and enjoyment. Our ancestors knew of its aid to health when drunk in moderation. In fact, up until the 18th century, wine played a central role in medicine. Wine inhibits the growth of all micro-organisms that are the cause of disease in man. Because of its alcohol and acid content, they simple die in it.” Source: IntoWine
