A few days ago hubby and I had an opportunity to have dinner at McCormick and Schmick’s on 5th Avenue in New York (was surprised to learn it’s owned by Landry’s). I had a phenomenal salmon stuffed with Blue Crab, Shrimp and Brie. Absolutely mouthwatering memory. The rich salmon dish was perfectly matched with the citrusy freshness of the Joel Gott unoaked Chard. A bright wine on the palate with sweet orange – blossoms in the nose – zest on the palate and a hint of honey and lime. The label credits Monterey, Napa and Sonoma fruit. The video below is Joel Gott talking about his unoaked Chardonnay.
As a sidenote, I had Joel Gott Sauvignon Blanc 2011 at about Thanksgiving last year, at LA’s (almost in Silver Lake) Speranza on Hyperion. All the pastas are freshly made there. It was a crisp evening and the outside seating was charming with patio warmers all fired-up and cozy.
