Girl Go Lightly Wines: Lower Alcohol, Low Cal, Screw Caps and A Sweet Little Label

So every sixteen year old girl will think these wines are made just for her. Pretty, pink and fashion forward. The Diageo line of Girl Go Lightly has three unoaked varietals, Chardonnay, Rosé and Moscato with 11% alcohol by volume. The first video below is an animated presentation and the next two are tasting note videos by the winemaker. The Chardonnay video was available. The appellation is ‘California.’ I haven’t found the calorie content of Girl Go Lightly wines, but lower alcohol contributes to lower calories. As a general guide, a 5 oz. glass of white wine with 13% alcohol weighs in at approximately 100 calories. Red wine at 13% alcohol has approximately 106 calories – nothing set in concrete, just a guide. I count 120 calories per 5 oz serving and know I probably have it covered. Around the InterWebs I see prices ranging from $12 – $15. I haven’t tried Girl Go Lightly, so if you have, let me know what you think.

We gave the wine a slight effervescence, which lifts the sweet fruit and lends balance. Enjoy this lower-alcohol wine at your next cocktail party; it pairs perfectly with food and festivities alike.
